Biography

Michel Houellebecq is a Dublin and Lanzarote based French author whose style is praised as a blending of Flaubert, Balzac, and Camus. Born on the isle of Reunion, Houellebecq worked as computer administrator in Paris before he became the “pop star of the single generation”. The Elementary Particles (Atomized), a novel of “depressive lucidity,” was an instant ‘nihilistic classic’ that The New York Times called “a deeply repugnant read.” His earlier book Whatever (original French title Extension du domaine de la lutte) was made into a “Schopenhauerian film” by Philippe Harel. Author of H.P.Lovecraft: Contre le monde, contre la vie; Rester vivant et autre textes; Whatever; Interventiones; The Elementary Particles (Atomized); Lanzarote.
