Zizek begins his critique with a critique of capitalism where he concludes that what ultimately distinguishes man from animals is not some positive feature (speech, toolmaking, etc. ) but some kind of impossibility, as referenced by Deleuze and Lacan. Zizek goes on to explainthe origin of anti-semitism as a shift in the identification of the Jew not in what they had done, but of what they were.
