Klaus Ottmann, Ph.D. (New York) critic, author, and curator who has lectured and written extensively on aesthetics, art theory, curatorial studies, and contemporary art.
Ottmann has curated over forty exhibitions, most recently Wolfgang Laib: A Retrospective, which traveled to five museums in the United States and is shown at the Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany, from November 1, 2002 to January 19, 2003. Other curated exhibitions include Extreme Existence, Mark Morrisroe: My Life. Polaroids 1977–1989 Irony & Ecstasy: Contemporary American Paintings and Drawings, The Good, the Bad & the Ugly: Knowledge and Violence in Recent American Art, Kiki Smith, and Franz Erhard Walther.
He is the author of Mark Morrisroe (Twin Palms Publishers, 1999), The Essential™ Michelangelo (Harry N. Abrams/The Wonderland Press, 2000), Wolfgang Laib (Hatje Cantz, 2000), and The Essential™ Mark Rothko (Harry N.
