Hubertus von Amelunxen, German theorist and art historian, lecturing on the theoretical elements of photography. During the lecture, Amelunxen discusses temporality and three levels of time, the punctum in time, and the temporality of expectation and retrospection. Amelunxen focuses on the paradoxical nature of the photography in regards to time, as well as its catastrophic element. Additionally, he dwells on non-linearity, the problems of duplication translation, and reproduction, mimesis, otherness, the uncanny, and what Roland Barthes called 'the third sense'. During the lecture, Amelunxen relies on the the work of Derrida, Barthes, Benjamin, Escher, Klee, Deleuze and introduces two figures of Greek mythology: Echo and Narcissus.
