In this lecture, Claire Denis discusses different types of narrative and the sequence of a film, sexism in Italian TV, short films, Terrence Malick's "The Tree of Life," the rules or laws of narrative in relation to flashbacks and flashforwards, prediction, video art, the freedom of scriptwriting in relationship to the commercial demands of the film industry focusing on risk taking, power and colonialism.
