Antonio Negri - Lectures / Workshops / Seminars

POLITICAL ACTIVISM: Multiplicity and Empire (3 credits)

Antonio Negri, Ph.D.

Description: This course takes a Deleuzian approach to understanding power and social change in the world of globalization. New networks of communication and control necessitate a radical shift in the basis of politics. We will examine the “Empire" manifesto as an alternative political paradigm for a global society. Examining the multitude and empire allows for new ways of imagining and realizing politics and resistance in today’s world.

Objectives: Students shall leave this course with an intimate understanding of the works of Antonio Negri. Through engaging the innovative theoretical and political goals of Hardt’s work students are encouraged to continue the theoretical discussions of resistance in the radically different political environment of today.
